Bright, Salty, Red & Yummy
This is a very special time of year when pickleweed, the favorite food of the salt marsh harvest mouse, turns bright red and is loaded with salt. Pickleweed is a plant that looks like tiny pickles, tastes like pickles and grows in the salt marsh.

Only in the Salt Marshes Around SF Bay
Around San Francisco Bay is the only place in the world where this tiny, talented mouse is found. The mouse loves salty food and lives in the salt marsh. She’s on the endangered list due to development encroaching on her habitat, predator animals like cats, and rising sea level cutting into the precious marsh area still available.
